Lace 'n Big Hats is a diary of my lead adventures. The title comes from a remark of Martin Rapier, a member of TMP. Lace 'n Big Hats aggregates historical periods such as the Lace wars, Seven years war, Napoleonic Wars etc, which had this elaborate dress as one common factor. I like the phrase so much I am thinking of using it as a name for a rule set I am working on. My historical interests are actually a bit broader, so I will be throwing in bits and pieces from WW2 and even the Modern era.

28mm Napoleonic Dutchy of Warsaw skirmishers
Found a new skirmish screen for my Dutchy of Warsaw troops and painted them up. They are from Front Rank miniatures.

28mm Napoleonic French Vistula Legion 4th infantry regiment
These are Front Rank figures. Most of them were painted years ago. For some reason I didn't order all the figures I needed and only recently picked up the rest from the UK. Gentlemen, I present to you the 4th Vistula Legion infantry regiment.
I don't make that many units in the advancing pose as they are a pain to pack and move around the wargame table.

28mm Napoleonic Tercios Españoles de Tejas
The metal is from Elite miniatures except for the Sapper and Fifer who are from Front Rank.
Here is some info on the unit:
Organisation
The Corps of Texas Spanish Tercios (Tercios Españoles de Tejas) hereafter referred to as the Tercios de Tejas was an expeditionary corps raised in Spain by Brigadier don Pedro Grimarest starting 6 August 1804 being destined for the province of Texas. However in 1808 it still remained in the Peninsula located at Cadiz. They never reached Texas.
The Tercios de Tejas were to made up of four light infantry and four cavalry tercios, each of 3 companies. It was actually formed as two light infantry battalion-like tercios and (probably) two cavalry squadron-like tercios.
The infantry were in combat at Menjibar on 16th July 1808 and Bailen on 19th July 1808 with a strength of 436 men as part of Lt General Teodoro Reding's 1st Division. On 12th August 1808 one tercio was converted to the Batallon de Cazadores de Bailen and the other to Batallon de Cazadores de Las Navas de Tolosa.
The cavalry served at Uclés on 13th January 1809 with a strength of 15 officers and 153 troopers. They were later renamed the Cazadores de Sevilla.

28mm Napoleonic French Line infantry in Campaign Dress
These are Front Rank figures. There is a lot of variety in their range, which makes for interesting units.

28mm Napoleonic French Line infantry in Full Dress (Front Rank)
Here are four battalions of Front Rank French Line infantry in Full Dress. I rarely paint the lads in Full Dress, so this makes a change for me.

28mm Napoleonic Spanish Guerrilas of Mina
I have had these figures "on the go" for years. Painting the designs on hats and blankets was a real pain, and I put them down for a long time. It was also a hassle to paint up the "captured" French uniforms and decide how to mix up the figures in battalions and the skirmish screen. They are finally ready!
There are four 32 man battalions; three with men in the early uniform, one with men in the late uniform. There are also three skirmish screens, which I will use for my Spanish line.

28mm Napoleonic French Imperial Guard a Pied charging and Nassau battalion
I saw a lovely image of the Guard Grenadiers charging through the snow at Eylau years ago. I picked these figures to recreate that same look. I am not sure if this is the same image I saw before, but it is similar. I think I saw it originally at the Wargames Holiday Centre.
Here are a battalion of Nassau infantry. I always wanted one.

28mm Napoleonic Front Rank cavalry: Dutchy of Warsaw, French, Russian
Here are some of the Front Rank Napoleonic cavalry which I recently finished. I painted these to sell. Often I do this and then decide that I can't part with the figures. This time I deliberately bought them in unit sizes I don't use. I will have to see if this helps me part with them!
