28mm Napoleonic Austrian, French and Russian Generals (Elite miniatures and Perry miniatures)

I painted most of these quite a while ago but I've had them sitting around. I finally got around to basing the,. Most of them are from Elite miniatures, but there are some Perry miniatures Napoleonic French Generals of the Imperial Guard.

28mm Napoleonic Saxon Guard Grenadiers (Connoisseur) and Russian Jaegers (Elite)

Saxon Guard Grenadiers from Connoisseur. I love the drummer carrying a pistol. Followed by Russian Jaegers.

28mm Napoleonic Russian Grodno Hussars

These are my Napoleonic Russian Grodno Hussars. The metal is from Elite miniatures. You can find something about the history of the regiment here. They were formed in 1806 with squadrons from other Hussar regiments and finished the war being awarded the Military Order decoration. Later they were taken into the Guard.

28mm Napoleonic Russian Ural Cossacks

These 28mm Napoleonic Russian Ural Cossacks are from Elite miniatures. When I couldn't find Cossacks in these uniforms I contacted Peter Morby who kindly supplied me with the plate he based the uniform on. Contacting the designer can be handy when you don't know how to paint something!

They are a nice irregular unit to break up the solid blue of my Don Cossacks.

These lads are very forward with the bayonet but they can't shoot for toffee! The figures are from Elite miniatures. I have four of these and another four armed with pikes.

Here are some more of my Elite miniatures Russians. These chaps are in great coats (except for the skirmishers). I have 23 battalions of line in great coats and another four militia armed with muskets. They won't all fit into my light box at once. I also have 36 skirmishers.

I've finished 4 units of Guard and 8 or so line in regular uniforms. I think the pictures of these are on the blog. All in all there are 70-80 units of Russian infantry. I guess I have done almost half.

I like to do quite a few shades and colours of great coats in order to make these units look interesting. The hat lace style is something I picked up from Mansfield wargamers when doing Russians. As you can see, Elite have some figures in fatigue caps and with bare heads which also looks nice. There is a lot of great stuff in the Elite miniatures range. The figures are not well known. So they are nice to have on the table. There is an Elite miniatures (HQ) in the UK and another in Australia.

These boys are from Elite miniatures. They do militia armed with pikes and also muskets. The musket armed boys are still in the bag somewhere. As they say in Russia, bayonette is a clever chap while musket is a dull fellow. Pike armed chaps must be even more lively!

28mm Napoleonic Russian Guard Horse Artillery

28mm Napoleonic Russian Guard Horse Artillery. The figures are from Elite miniatures. These batteries were world killers when they were allowed to fire twice in a turn, in the old Grand Manner rules. With double the number of guns of allocated to most other nations horse batteries they still pack a punch.
