I have a soft spot for these Crusader minis. Sorry that some of the snaps are a bit out of focus.
Lace 'n Big Hats is a diary of my lead adventures. The title comes from a remark of Martin Rapier, a member of TMP. Lace 'n Big Hats aggregates historical periods such as the Lace wars, Seven years war, Napoleonic Wars etc, which had this elaborate dress as one common factor. I like the phrase so much I am thinking of using it as a name for a rule set I am working on. My historical interests are actually a bit broader, so I will be throwing in bits and pieces from WW2 and even the Modern era.

I am selling off some 15mm WW2 figures in mixed "bags" of 50. The figures are from the Command decision range. There are American, British, German and Russian to choose from.

WW2 Warlord Games British Commandos
These are some of Warlord Games plastic British Commandos. You can paint them up as French, which just means using alternative shoulder markings - and lashings of garlic.
For some reason the lighting didn't work out for me in these photos. The contrast is cut down a bit from what you see with the naked eye.

28mm WW2 Perry minatures Desert Rats
I am surprised how nicely these Perry miniatures Desert Rats turned out. The proportions are lovely. They remind me of Peter Guilder Connoisseur figures. I didn't have bases for the crew served weapons so I made bases that protected the figures while not taking up too much space. It is frustrating having an oversized base that stops you going into a nice position!

28mm WW2 Italian Paracadutisti
Here are some more 28mm WW2 Italian Paracadutisti. I painted some earlier, which you can see on this blog, in a darker camouflage scheme. I still have one more set to paint. I will paint those in another scheme. Finally I will mix them all up for variety and because the first pattern was accurate but too dark for miniatures.
The miniatures are from Warlord Games.

28mm Bolt Action Italian Paracadutisti
I have two or three of these boxes of the splendid Bolt Action Italian paratroopers. I recently started a thread on The Miniatures Page asking about Italian paratroop camouflage and got a wealth of information. I've only painted one pattern here but I will be painting other patterns on the other boxes and then making mixed sets, which will look better and hopefully be more realistic. I went with blue "Luftwaffe" trousers here as they look great. I will do the same for the other sets except perhaps for a few pairs of field grey - you can over do a good thing.
The first image is cropped so you can see the pattern very clearly. It has been painted very precisely, which took a long time, but the whole thing is a bit dark to see in photos. I am loath to change something just because it doesn't look as good in photos as it does in real life. This is another reason for painting other, lighter, examples of patterns on the other sets and mixing them up. I think the contrast will also look good and lift the appearance, in photos as well as in life, of the whole unit.
One final note. Some of the paras had certain jackets which were plain green. So I have done them that way.

28mm Bolt Action WW2 Soviet infantry
I think the Bolt Action Soviet starter may be the nicest of their starters. This is partly because of the nice blue trousers, and skirt, on some of the figures. The models are also nice.
I always try to paint a variety of uniform colours for the most "ragged" armies where there would have been many different shades. I do this mainly for the Soviets and Germans.
With these plastic figures it is easy to customise, with the assistance of a blade and some glue.

Once again these are part of a starter army where I haven't yet done the vehicles and AT. They are nice models and I found the set to be good value.
