Lace 'n Big Hats is a diary of my lead adventures. The title comes from a remark of Martin Rapier, a member of TMP. Lace 'n Big Hats aggregates historical periods such as the Lace wars, Seven years war, Napoleonic Wars etc, which had this elaborate dress as one common factor. I like the phrase so much I am thinking of using it as a name for a rule set I am working on. My historical interests are actually a bit broader, so I will be throwing in bits and pieces from WW2 and even the Modern era.

Warlord Roman veterans work in progress
I am painting some of my 28mm Warlord Roman starter army, which includes a unit of 20 of these "Roman veterans". The figures have shields with bits missing and too many figures with bandages over one eyes. I can't decide if this is how I am going to do the armour. It was painted, then glossed, then washed and then highlighted by painting silver back in the middle of areas (which means most places except edges and recesses). The whole figure is gloss at the moment. I will matt everything except the metal bits.
